Job Summary

Plans, organizes, supervises and controls the activity of the production for their assigned area of coverage on his or her line, in order to fulfil the production plan at a high-quality level, with high level safety compliance and optimum costs, according to company standards

Job Details

  • Strictly executes production plan in his/her shift and escalates all challenges beyond his decision authority.
  • Ensures strict adherence to agreed maintenance plan and all production staff participate as planned.
  • Ensures that line start up, shut down and change-over are executed strictly according SOP.
  • Participates in project initiative execution during shift run.
  • Ensure a full shift report & shift hand over notes are prepared and handed to the incoming shift manager.
  • Ensures strict adherence to Food and Beverage Legislation, PI Standards, ISO certification, Good Manufacturing Practices and other internal and external regulatory compliance 
  • Enforcement of all line personnel to comply with the requirements of Good Housekeeping and Good Manufacturing practices during his Shift.
  • Ensures Production personnel wears clean uniform, 100% Compliance to PPE for all Personnel in the Production area, No Jewellery worn in production areas
  • Ensures zero tolerance to drinking / eating on production lines, prompt cleaning of production lines is completed during his shift.
  • Reports all near misses/Non-conformance in his shift and follows through with responsible persons for resolution.
  • Ensures all quality control parameters and variables are within acceptable targets in his/her Shift (e.g. Brix, Fill Height etc.)
  • Participates and actively contributes in business performance review & management routines (Leads shift team meetings & other management routines as to production schedule)
  • Participates in running of (RCA CAPA) Root Cause Analysis, Corrective and Preventive Actions.
  •  Stands as the frontline executor for all daily CLIT activities.
  • Champions Manufacturing Excellence routines relevant to their line, keeping the process alive and using it to drive shift performance.
  • Drives effective visual management to communicate performance to shop floor team.
  • Escalates promptly according to existing escalation matrix any non-conformity observed during the production process.
  • Removes all bottlenecks to planned production in his or her line and escalates timely for help when necessary.
  • Ensures the availability and supply of products for packaging
  • Ensures the availability of raw & packaging materials as at when due to ensure production continuity according to plan.
  • Ensures GMP/GHK standards are adhered to on his line(s), executes GMP Audit as per planned weekly calendar, executes CAP as part of implementation from GMP/GHK Audit
  • Understands and controls main cost drivers on the line, addresses excess manning on his line.
  • Manages usage for PPEs and consumables
  • Understands the monetary impact of raw material losses on product and plant profitability.
  • Ensures production of products with high quality, stops the line if the products are out of limits on quality parameters, and promptly resolves all quality issues raised by QA 
  • Leads by example and effectively communicates the actions which put the Quality First (product, behavior, communication, etc.)
  • Stops the production immediately if there is an objective evidence that the product or package do not meet the organization’s PIQS, HACCP, ISO 21000 requirements
  • Establishes and maintains productive relationships with team and stakeholders
  • Builds and reinforces relationships with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Production Planning and relevant government regulatory agencies.
  • Utilizes performance management systems with discipline in order to ensure that all shop floor delivers full performance (HR, Manufacturing Excellence).  Sets stretching but achievable objectives for all people in the unit.
  • Builds relationship with shop floor to engage them.
  • Lives and promotes company values and culture, and helps employees to understand and embrace them
  • Drives zero tolerance for violations of Code of Business Conduct.
  • Builds relationship with Engineering (Maintenance), Warehouse, Planning, Quality Assurance and maintenance-overhaul contractors.
  • Drives innovation in production equipment by ensuring continuous process improvement and exploring global and industry benchmark and employee input
  • Suggest recommendations and support implementation of the ones delivering values 
  • Learns and implements best practices from outside and shares own best practices within the organization
  • Promotes process automation and use of technology within the business

Requirements

  • A minimum of HND or BSc in Engineering or General Sciences.
  • Minimum of 5– 7 years relevant hands-on FMCG operation and maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of bottling operations 
  • Experienced in budgeting and people management 
  • Knowledge of bottling operations: Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, Environment, Engineering, Health and Safety
  • Operational planning expertise/experience 
  • Understanding of financial impact of decisions 
  • Ability to select and assess first-line managers
  • Coaching direct reports and mentoring others
  • Ability to translate functional strategy into unit/section’s plan
  • Ability to lead and manage change setting standards for managing performance.
  • Ability to build and leverage relationships to improve results
  • Open-minded and willing to experiment and try new things
  • Ability to disseminate and enforce safety, health & environment policy and improvement initiatives.
  • Good understanding and experience of current WC manufacturing methodologies.
  • Good understanding of HQSE modalities and codes.
  • Good understanding of GMP and GHK (5S) standards
  • Good oral communication, influencing and relationship skills.
  • Experience in plant manufacturing operations, project planning & implementation.
  • Previous new equipment or line installation or extension could be an advantage.
  • Understanding of business case/cost benefits analysis preparation and basic financial analysis tools.
  • Ability to influence situations without direct control of resources. Proven competencies with budgeting procedures and management of costs.
