Job Summary

The Utility Technician is responsible for the operation, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting of utility equipment such as boilers, compressors, chillers, water treatment plants, and power generation systems. The role ensures uninterrupted supply of utilities (steam, compressed air, refrigeration, water, and power) to support efficient production operations in line with company safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Monitoring

Operate and monitor utility systems including boilers, air compressors, chillers, water treatment plants, diesel generators, and related equipment.

Record, track, and interpret readings from gauges, meters, and control panels to ensure utilities operate within specified parameters.

Ensure consistent supply of utilities to support production with minimal downtime.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Carry out preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on utility systems as scheduled.

Troubleshoot and repair equipment faults promptly to minimize disruptions to production.

Support the Utility Engineer in executing planned shutdown maintenance activities.

Maintain proper housekeeping and ensure equipment is kept in optimal working condition.

Compliance & Safety

Adhere strictly to safety, health, and environmental standards in utility operations.

Ensure compliance with statutory requirements on boiler operation, water quality, and pressure vessel handling.

Participate in safety drills and training programs as required.

Documentation & Reporting

Maintain accurate logs of equipment performance, breakdowns, and maintenance activities.

Report abnormalities, risks, or recurring issues to the Utility Engineer.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by recommending process/equipment improveme

Requirements

OND / HND in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related Engineering discipline.

Minimum of 2–4 years’ experience in utility operations and maintenance in FMCG, beverage, or manufacturing industry.

Hands-on knowledge of boilers, compressors, chillers, pumps, and water treatment systems.
