Job Summary

Plans, organizes, supervises and controls the activity of the production for their assigned area of coverage on his or her shift, in order to fulfil the production plan at a high-quality level, with high level safety compliance and optimum costs, according to company standards.

Job Details

•    Serves as a coach to all operators on the shop floor.
•    Follows up with technical team to ensure that breakdowns are resolved promptly and permanently
•    Drives start up timing as per plan after every production run on lines in assigned area of coverage.
•    Responsible for reduction of all waste across the shop floor (crown, closure, syrup, sugar, label, shrink film etc.).
•    Ensures GMP/GHK standards are adhered to in his Shift, hands over his area with 100% compliance to GMP/GHK, executes GMP Audit as per planned weekly calendar, executes CAP as part of implementation from GMP/GHK Audit
•    Understands and controls main cost drivers on the line, addresses excess manning in his shift.
•    Understands the monetary impact of raw material losses on product and plant profitability.
•    Leads by example and effectively communicates the actions which put the Quality First (product, behaviour, communication, etc.)
•    Ensures Production personnel wears clean uniform, 100% Compliance to PPE for all Personnel in the Production area.
•    Drives compliance to food safety standards on the production lines. eg. No Jewellery worn in production areas, bearded cover to be worn etc.
•    Ensures zero tolerance to drinking / eating on production lines, prompt cleaning of production lines is completed during his shift.
•    Reports all near misses/Non-conformance in his shift and follows through with responsible persons for resolution.
•    Ensures all quality control parameters and variables are within acceptable targets in his/her Shift (e.g. Brix, Fill Height, carbonation, torque etc.)
•    Is responsible for raw and packaging material on the shop floor, ensures materials are properly staged and is accountable for the usage of same materials
•    Ensures that product is available as at when due and delays that may affect production continuity are promptly escalated to line manager.
•    Manages, the return of all scrap materials like sugar bags, kegs, drums etc. for their area of coverage during shift production run. Ensures these scraps are properly documented and accounted for.
•    Responsible for the conduct of operators and all shift team members in their area of coverage during shift production run.
•    Tracks and ensure calibration of all the measuring and weighing equipment under direct control of the production department are carried out regularly.
•    To submit the required data for the preparation of daily, weekly, monthly or any periodic reports to the line manager.
•    Ensures his or team members strictly adhere to the requirements of the SBC, ISO 9001 quality system and all other management systems and PI Standards.
•    Ensure that team members in area of coverage strictly adhere to all statutory and regulatory requirements, safety and environment regulations.
•    Informs the line manager on the needs for working tools and ensure proper controls and safekeeping of the tools.
•    Escalates promptly according to existing escalation matrix any non-conformity observed during the production process.
•    Champions Manufacturing Excellence routines relevant to their line, keeping the process alive and using it to drive shift performance.
•    Drives effective visual management to communicate performance to shop floor team.
•    Establishes and maintains productive relationships with team & stakeholders
•    Builds relationship with shop floor to engage them.
•    Builds and reinforces relationships with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Warehouse, Production Planning and relevant government regulatory agencies.

•    Drives innovation in production equipment by ensuring continuous process improvement and exploring global and industry benchmark and employees’ input
•    Suggest recommendations and support implementation of the ones delivering values
•    Learns and implements best practices from outside and shares own best practices within SBC
•    Promotes process automation and use of technology within the business especially in production operations.

Requirements

•    A minimum of HND or Bsc in Food Sciences, Engineering or General Sciences.
•    Minimum of 3– 5 years relevant hands-on FMCG operation and maintenance experience.
•    Knowledge of bottling operations 
•    Understanding of financial impact of decisions 
•    Ability to build and leverage relationships to improve results
•    Open-minded and willing to experiment and try new things and improvement initiatives.
•    Good understanding and experience of current WC manufacturing methodologies.
•    Good understanding of HQSE modalities and codes.
•    Good understanding of achieving GMP and GHK standards 
•    Good oral communication, influencing and relationship skills.
